Indiana Family Star Party

at Prairie Grass Observatory, at Camp Cullom, near Mulberry, IN

July 30 - Aug. 4, 2024

The Indiana Family Star Party is an annual regional event that WVAS co-sponsors with the Indiana Astronomical Society and the Muncie Astronomy Club.  Amateur astronomers and their families, plus anyone wanting an introduction to the hobby, are welcome to enjoy the dark skies at Prairie Grass Observatory.  The weeknights portion of the event is aimed at amateurs interested in photography and other forms of serious observing, while Friday and Saturday nights are targeted toward families, children, and the general public.

Activities include our Sky Trekker Observers’ program for kids and novice adults, speakers who present on various astronomical topics, a raffle, solar observing, nighttime observing, camping, and a nature walk.  Amenities include on-site showers and restrooms, an air-conditioned Nature Center, on-site catered food, an ice cream social, and hay-wagon and/or golf-cart transport about the grounds for those unable to walk large distances or those who simply enjoy the wagon ride.
